Module #12 Video Review

#1. I chose Abstract Expressionism and Pop: Art of the 50's and 60's because I always liked the 60's decade it was a crazy decade. I also chose the Andy Warhol video because I have heard of his name before but do not know much of him and I would like to know more about him.

#2. Abstract Expressionism and Pop: Art of the 50's and 60's
Key Concepts:
-The attitudes of European avant-grande art and American art came together to make Abstract Expressionism.
-But it was soon rejected because it was seen as an egocentric character and nonfigurative which was then replaced by ultra-objective: Pop Art.
-Frankenthaler was known as mystical and feminine and likes to make the observer want to feel a warming and exhilarating sense of expressionism.
-Andy Warhol was known as the most famous artist of the Pop Art movement.

Andy Warhol: Images of an Image
Key Concepts:
-Known as a commercial artist and used advertising images in his work.
-Used Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor as his inspiration.
-Liked to use silk screening.
-His photographs were blown up and put onto silk screens then transferred to paper and canvas using ink and paint.
-Used consumer products as silk screen images.
-Shot around 100 films.
-Made dozens of self portraits.
-Used his world to address race rioted, the cultural revolution in China, the conquest of the moon, and the universal reign of the dollar.

#3. The text and videos relate to each other because they both talk about the starting of the Expressionism and Pop Art, art works and artists during these movements, and the inspiration of Andy Warhol's art.

#4. I liked the films because it helped me to learn about the leaders of the art movements and the characteristics involved with the works of art that were used to define Expressionism and Pop Art.
